I'm Sergi Molina and this is my opinion of the English project 2. I all of the quizes I learn somethings but I'm going to talk about the DVDs.

I didn't like any DVD but if I have to try one of the DVDs I try de Law. I liked the law because in the DVD they theach about the law: the police, the forensic laboratory... I learn thinks like that the police take fingerprints of the suspects, the forensics scientists can find a person's identity from a single hair...

The other DVDs are more bored than this one because they talk about things that we alredy know.

Summaries

1- SCOTLAND
Scotland has got a lot of lakes, mountains countryside and it is famous for its many wild. The majority of the population live in the two main cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. There are both modern and historic buildings here. Scotland has got some very special tradicions. There is a special sports event called the Highland Games. You can see some familiar and some unusual sports there.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh is a famous Scottish person. He was an architect and a designer. His designs are still popular today.

2- SOAP OPERA
In Britian there are a lot of soap oepera. The most inportans soap operas in Britian are Emnerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders. Most soap operas are on at least three times a week. The people in Britian can buy some special soap opera megazine every week. In the megazines, they can read previews of next week's shows.

3- SUPERMARKETS
In Britian there are a lot of supermarkets. The most inportants supermarkets in Britian are Tesco extra, Tesco Metros, Asda and Sainsburg. The biggest supermarket in Britian is Tesco extra. In Britian 80% of all food and drink comes from the five biggest supermarkets.
Some people in Britian like shopping at night. When the people go shopping with car ther buy a lot because thet can carry the shop in the car.

4- THE LAW
In Britian the law is very inportant. The police arrest the people on the street then they go into the cells and they catch the fingerprinds of the criminals and finaly the criminal go to the charge. The forensics scientist work in a laboraty and they analyse material from a crime scene. They can find a person's identity from a single hair. The most rentable thing for discover the guilty is the DNA.
In the final the courts have to decide if a suspect is guilty or not guilty.

5- HORROR STORIES
Two of the most famous British horror stories are Dracula and Frankenstein. Mary Shelley wrote Frankinstein in 1818. Bram Stoker, the Irish writer, created Dracula in 1897.
There are many films which feature these two horror characters. Stoker Thought of his story when he was sitting in Highgate cementery. he wondered what would happen fi sunlight could wake up a dead body in a tomb. Now visitors to London can go on special guided Dracula tours.
British people love to be scared.

6- MARITIME HISTORY
Britian has a lot of sea. In Britian there are a lot of ships. Many ships in Britian are used for inporting and exporting goods and for taking people on business or holiday. In Liverpool there is and inportant museum of maritime history. Outside the museum there are a lot of several ships. On the ships, young men had to climb the rigging to put up the sails.
The tea trade was very profitable trade and made people very rich.
Between 1830 and 1930 many people travelled by ship. Many people of this people travelled by ship to left Europe.
The Titanic was and inportant passenger ship. It sank in 1912 and over 1,500 people drownedd. The film of Titanic was the most expensive film ever made.

7- TRANSPORT IN LONDON
Freddie is a television researcher and he is finding out about different ways of travelling in London.
Freddie starts his journey on his bicycle. Then he gets on a train. The train is used for many people who live in the suburbs to travel in London.
In London you can take public transport to get anywhere. In the last part of his journey Freddie travels on a bus. Bendy buses are double-length buses.
In London the worst transport is the car because there is very traffic. The buses and the taxis can move more quickly than the cars because they've got special lines.

8- COMPUTERS
The computers are very inportant in all of the world. The computers can tell us about delays to transport and in the future, computers will control the way we live in "smart homes".
Play computars games is a popular way to spending spare time in the teenager.
The computers can do a lot of things. When it's too dark the computers will switch on the lights. Whent it's too hot the computers will ajust the temperature. When it's too sunny the computers will close the blinds. When I'm going out the computers will act as a burglar alarm.

9-HEALTHCARE
If you feel ill, you can go tho the chemist to buy cough mixture or headache pills. For more powerful drugs, you need to get a prescription from a doctor. Doctors work in surgeries and healthy centres. There is also a phone service, called NHS Direct. With NHS Direct you can talk to a trainee nurse. Some people prefer to use alternative medicine like Chinese herbs, acupuncture or osteopathy. If you exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet, you shouldn't need to use the healthcare system.

The word parliament comes from the French verb parler, to talk. The British have used this name since the 13th century. It represents the idea that the monarch should talk with and listen to ordinary people.

The British Parliament has developed over hundreds of years. It started with a group of nobles to advise the king. Today it consists of the monarch and two houses of Parliament - the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

The House of Commons has got 646 members, known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Local residents vote for an MP to represents them.

The House of Lords consists of noblemen. Until recently, membership to the House of Lords passed from father to son - when a nobleman died, his eldest son took his place in the House.

At the geginning of the 20th century, the monarchy and the House of Lords began to get weaker. In 1999, the House of Lords Act changed the parliamentary system so that most nobles lost their right to sit and vote in the House.

Instead, people recive titles from the Queen for their contribution to society and it isn't a hereditary honour any more to sit the House.

Over the years, Parliament has become more representative of the people. Today, everyone over the age of 18 has got the right to vote gor an MP to represents them in Parliament.
